mt ophir trip

mt ophir.. gunung ledang.. it's more than juz a mountain..
1st june 8am.. met e pple for e trip at kranji mrt station.. took 170 to larkin for breakfast.. then changed to another bus to tangkak for lunch.. after which, we took another bus to gunung ledang.. start of trek..
met e local guides at checkpt 1 in e afternoon.. then we started climbing n climbing to e base camp which is half way up e mt to have dinner n some rest. woke up at 2am to climb to e summit.. climbing in total darkness w torches.. think cannot see is better. hmm.. e best part of e climb tt i can rem is e vertical slope part.. e slope is almost vertical n i was so scared.. had to keep pulling myself up w my hands. if it's daytime n i see e top of tt slope, think i'll freak out lor.. haha.. but tt part is e best part.. my fav part.. if can i want to climb tt slope again! a pity i didn't take a photo of myself climbing up tt part.. now abit regret.. can only rely on memory. nmind, e best photos r e ones in ur memory.
after reaching e summit, it's time to descend! e descending part was really tough for me n i didn't like it.. kept tripping n falling n ended up w lotsa bruises.. then hobbit, seannie, violet n me were separated because i needed to stop for first aid. the first aiders had some conflict while treating me.. it's a really long story man..
first injury, i slipped n fell n injured my toe.. didn't realized until i saw lotsa blood on my sandals.. jj inspected n said it's my skin.. ivy inspected n said tt's a leech! then huiqin poured feng you on it.. n it was damn painful! ivy said it's not supposed to be pain.. jj even took a photo of e "leech"! after further discussion, they decided tt it's my skin.. n huiqin started to wash it w antiseptic n applied cream n helped me put plaster. then we made our way down..
after walking for some more distance, my right sole feels painful too.. oh.. e toe juz now was on my left leg.. now, second injury.. my right sole.. again, i told charlene, this rovers gal guiding me.. then she told e first aiders.. haiz.. jj inspected n said it's not a splinter.. it's my skin again! then he tried squeezing n it was damn painful! it's really painful n i m sure there's something inside juz tt i dunno wad it is.. so they started a discussion on whether it's a splinter or not.. urgh.. n i was getting a lil frustrated over their discussion.. so frustrated tt i dun even noe i diao jj lah.. n he exclaimed to everyone tt i diao him.. i didn't even noe i diao him k.. in e end, i juz said forget it, juz give me a plaster to stick can liao.. n i continue on my descend w them still discussing over e "splinter".
finally reached base camp after a long long time.. e descend was faster than e ascend but i think it could have been faster without all my injuries lah.. had bruises from my toes to my thighs k.. n i slowed everyone down.. luckily all these happened while climbing down.. if it's climbing up, i'll feel even worse for slowing everyone down.
we had a very nice breakfast e next morning (3rd june) at base camp.. pancakes! hee.. then we made our way down to e foot.. down down down we went.. then we went for a dinner feast! n finally made our way back to sg!!!
wow! wad a trip.. it's really more than juz a mountain.. i realized i depended alot on others.. n i should learn to be more independent.. i really should. i depended so much on charlene on my way down, she had to show me where to step, how to go down etc.. n then wansean also.. i kept asking lotsa trival stuff until she's a lil pissed.
thinking back, i really enjoyed myself alot during this trip.. n i didn't regret going for it even though i had lotsa injuries.. e waterfalls r soooo nice.. how often do u get to bathe n play in waterfalls? how often do u get to climb mountains? how often do u get to climb w ropes? n it really feels good to reach e summit. e sense of achievement is beyond description man.. n it's simply GREAT! n e frens i made during e trip.. i love them too! but dun think i'll go mt climbing again in e near future.. this mt ophir experience is enough to last me a lifetime.. :)
